Liverpool Arab Arts
Festival 2023.
Grain, gradients, your gedo's newspaper, faded in the sun. It can only by our branding for this year's Liverpool Arab Arts Festival (25 years old!) Impactful and unexpectedly delicate, we drew from ideas surrounding this year's theme of Hekawati/storytelling and landed on the temporary beauty of classic film posters that emulate the organic texture and pacing of a story.
Posters, socials, banners, a concertina leaflet. With a coloured screen wash anchored by geometric shapes from islamic art, it's just so romantic, don't you think?
Inheriting stories.
For us, the imperfect and irregular grain is nostalgia and the way memories and stories can play tricks on you. How many of your memories have others' accounts woven through them, and you've unconsciously adopted these as your own? Once a story is shared, is it now yours to tell? How will you tell it differently, without even realising? Where do the stories go once they're told?
